TREAT ACCESSIBLY
The Petawawa Accessibility Advisory Committee is thrilled to support Treat Accessibly in 2025! This spooky initiative encourages homeowners to create a Halloween that's fun for everyone, regardless of ability. With over 400,000 Canadian kids facing challenges while trick-or-treating, let's join together to remove barriers and ensure that all little ghosts and goblins can enjoy the magic of Halloween!
What Can You Do?
Help create a spook-tacular and accessible Halloween for everyone! You can make a difference by distributing candy from an obstacle-free location on your property, like the foot of your driveway, so all trick-or-treaters can easily access treats.
Be sure to display the FREE Treat Accessibly lawn sign in advance of Halloween, available at Town Hall. This sign not only shows your commitment to inclusive trick-or-treating but also lets families know they are welcome to experience Halloween without barriers at your home.
Want to make your street part of the spook-tacular Treat Map? Contact Kate Bennett (details below) to add your street and help families and caregivers plan their fang-tastic, accessible trick-or-treating adventure! The Treat Map will be posted the week of Halloween—don’t miss out on the frightful fun!

Join us on Halloween night (October 31) from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Town Hall, 1111 Victoria Street for a fun and family-friendly celebration!
Meet members of the Accessibility Advisory Committee and the Petawawa Fire Department as they hand out treats.

ACCESSIBILITY TIPS
All you need to do is take a few simple steps and you'll be set up with a trick-or-treating station that every child can enjoy.
Provide Barrier-free Access
Some trick-or-treaters may have difficulties navigating inclines, stairs, curving walkways, etc. Make sure to place your trick-or-treating station at a location that is easily accessible to all.
- Make sure the path to your trick-or-treating station is well lit.
- Clear your driveway and pathways of any obstacles.
- Park your vehicle on the street or in your garage to allow easy access.
- Set up your trick-or-treating station at the end of your driveway or in your garage.
If your home doesn't have a driveway why don't you use your vehicle to trunk-or-treat? Show your creativity and decorate your vehicle to make it extra special.
